alexandra lier captures the surreal mutant vehicles of burning man in her new photo book

Mar 24, 2021

alexandra lier introduces the ‘mutant vehicles’ artbook, presenting the surreal world of mutant vehicles at the burning man festival through a series of high-quality photography and other interactive elements. the german artist has been documenting the festival in the black rock desert in nevada (USA) since 2014, capturing the unexpected driving artwork, as well as the inventive creators, in the cinematic deserted setting.

‘I love deserts and I love bizarre cars, so it was just a question of time before I would get in touch with this kind of species and make them my new project’ alexandra lier shares. the photography in the ‘mutant vehicles’ book showcases a dramatic effect, with the vehicle portraits appearing like a ‘fata morgana’. the pictures also showcase the designers and builders of the mutants, reflecting their passion and creativity.

to provide an even closer experience of burning man and the vehicles, the book by alexandra lier will feature an interactive part, which incorporates video, audio, and large images. big pictures will allow the viewers to get immersed in the world of the peculiar creations, interviews let them get up close and personal with some artists, while an included video clip will take them on a desert ride with one of the mutant vehicles.
