EICMA 2021: cake unveils the :work series – upgraded performance for fully electric professional use

Nov 23, 2021

cake, the swedish maker of premium electric motorbikes, launches the :work series at EICMA 2021. the new utility vehicles are specially designed for professional applications such as delivery drivers and craftsmen. this series addresses pollution and traffic, which are common problems of metropolitan areas, and it is intended to be an environmentally sustainable alternative to traditional petrol vehicles.

the new :work series updates cake’s three already existing categories: the off-road kalk (pharrell williams’s favourite. he owns a total-yellow model), the modular utility bike ösa, and the urban commuter makka. all those three models have increased power, and range, which allows the bike to operate for a full working day.

ösa :work is an high-performance motorbike, with a convenient unibar and clamp-on system users can attach trailers or baskets, to carry heavy and bulky loads. all the ösa :work models come with added battery capacity and are built to achieve 100 miles of range.

kalk :work is the off-road bike with the scandinavian clean look, this time with an upgraded performance. it’s the fastest one of the series – and this, according to cake, makes it perfect for security jobs as surveillance and patrolling.

makka :work is a robust electric moped, ideal for moving tools and equipment around the city. the battery capacity has doubled from its previous version, allowing for longer daily usage. its weight however is still reasonably low, measuring only 78kg – battery included. usb and 12v outlets allow users to charge their personal devices. this urban shuttle comes in two modes, ‘flex’, which focuses on speed and reaches 28mph (45km/h) and ’range’ which can go for 70 miles with a single charge.

‘any industry that handles large volumes of short-haul transportation of both people and goods understands the daily struggle with traffic jams, parking fines, and the need to find both economical and sustainable fossil fuel-free vehicles.’ says stefan ytterborn, founder and ceo of cake. ‘at cake, we truly believe that the future for last-mile deliveries will be electric and run on two wheels.’
